This week, I gave a presentation at Ashburton Library for Victorian History Month on the history of Ashburton's green spaces.
The presentation covered many of the themes I've already talked about on the blog, including the civic neglect of Ashburton by Camberwell Council and the suburb's love of sport; with a side serve of the whinging NIMBYs of Fakenham Road and the ideological battle between Cr Eric Raven and Ashburton resident, W Gordon Sprigg over the playing of sport on Sundays in Camberwell.
